The value of production
The incidence of domestic government funds within the two main fields (cinema and television) can be assessed taking into consideration a conservative estimate relating to the overall value of the audiovisual production (€ 950 million in 2017).
Public contribution for cinema (tax credits and direct public investments) amounts to about € 70m with an incidence of 27% on the total value. Video-television productions, on the other hand, receive (in the sole form of tax credit) a similar contribution in absolute values (€ 75m in 2017) with a much lower incidence: 11% of the total.
Even taking into account TV fiction alone (as a genre that on a cultural and expressive level is completely similar to cinema,) the incidence of public funds is 16%: € 60m tax credit for a total production value of € 375m
