Rai supplies more than two thirds of the Italian primetime original fiction overall aired in 2019-2020, thus repeating the percentages of the previous season.

Rai primetime rerun evenings have nearly tripled compared to the previous season.

A real boom (+ 173%,) yet another consequence of the Covid emergency. By exploiting a large library of fiction titles gathered over recent years, Rai has bridged the programming gaps due to the cancellation of sports and live shows.

These reruns (+49) were mainly broadcast on Raiuno in the evening. As always, the most replicated title was Inspector Montalbano (21 evenings)

Mediaset offered primetime reruns as well, retrieving classic religious biopics from its library and airing them on Canale 5 in a TV movie format (originally, they were two-episode miniseries).

On Raiuno, 85 titles were broadcast in primetime (+2 compared to the last Season,) 66% of the total of primetime titles that Rai and Mediaset scheduled with original Italian fiction in 2019-2020.

Raiuno dominated the weekly chessboard with four strong fiction engagements on Thursday evenings (traditionally, a cornerstone of Raiuno’s fiction), Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Also other networks concentrate their evenings on specific days of the week by filling in the evenings left free by Raiuno: Friday (Canale 5), Wednesday (Raidue), Saturday (Raitre).

The only significant variation compared to the past Season is Sunday: Canale 5’s privileged evening for two seasons, it is now once again one of Raiuno’s strongest evenings.
