The fiction season of Mediaset was low in titles also due to the Covid emergency and the decision to postpone the broadcasting of series that were already produced.
Due to the low supply (the number of titles is slightly less than half compared to last season) it is not possible to detect trends in terms of offer distribution by genre.
The only significant fact is the absence of melodramas, in line with the trend already mentioned for Rai’s offer.

Ratings show a clear polarization between consolidated titles, which achieve the best ratings, and new series.
Rosy Abate and L’isola di Pietro, although starting from very different macro-genres and narrative worlds (crime, the first; relational/community, the second), share a strong melodramatic cut.
