Breakdown of the audiovisual industry core
At first analysis, a change in the framework of the audiovisual core is immediately evident. Some of its sectors show an ever greater weight within the industry’s structure: Film&TV post-production has grown from 10.9% in 2011 to 14.8% in 2018 (14.3% in 2017); and TV programming has increased its contribution to the industry by nearly 4 percentage points – from 7.5% in 2011 to 11.3% in 2018 (10.8% in 2017). These results are offset by the lower incidence recorded by the other three sectors of the audiovisual core: Film&TV distribution (from 3.9% in 2011 to 3.3% in 2018); Exhibition (from 12.7% to 9.9%); Film&TV production (from 65.0% to 60.7%.)

In line with 2017, 2018 confirms an increase in the number of active companies in the Film&TV industrial chain: by December 31 there was an increase of +3.9% compared to the previous year, meaning more than double the average recorded starting from 2011 (+1.4%). The technological process of transformation concerning multimedia audiovisual consumption has mainly favored activities related to TV programming & broadcasting (+9.1% in 2018 and +7.5% annual average starting from 2011). Post-production has also grown significantly (+7.8%,) while activities dedicated to Distribution (+1.7%) and Exhibition (+0.4%) feature less dynamism in the short term, in line with the technological transformations taking place.
