APA, the Audiovisual Producers Association presented the 4th Report on National Audiovisual Production.
The document was illustrated today in Rome, as part of the MIA – International Audiovisual Market, by the President of APA, Giancarlo Leone, in the presence of Maria Pia Ammirati (Rai Fiction Director), Alessandro Araimo (General Manager Southern Europe of Warner Bros. Discovery), Nicola Borrelli (General Manager of the General Directorate of Cinema and Audiovisual – MiC), Roberto Luongo (General Manager of ICE – Italian Trade Agency) and Jaime Ondarza (EVP & South EMEA Hub Leader of Paramount Global).
Some significant data emerges from the Report, including:
- The total production cost of original video-television content (TV + VOD) reached a value of €1,420-1,470 million in 2021 (+37% compared to 2017).
- Investments in series and films for TV and VOD constitute the main component of the value of original audiovisual production. This is also the component that recorded the greatest growth between 2017 and 2021 (+62%). In terms of investment size, it follows the segment of entertainment and other genres (documentaries, current affairs and in-depth programmes, talk shows, cultural magazines, etc.).
