The “1st Report on national audiovisual production” was presented on 12 March at the Mausoleum of the Ara Pacis – Auditorium. It was created by APA and supported by the Direzione Generale Cinema of the Mibac and Istituto Luce Cinecittà, with the contribution of various research institutes (E-Media, Symbola, OFI, Geca Italia and Ce.R.T.A).

It is the first time that our sector has expressed extensive research that finally provides the real dimension of the national audiovisual industry” said the President of APA Giancarlo Leone. “The research demonstrates the excellent state of health of the entire sector with some significant signs of international success for the serial product”.

The value of the entire Italian production chain has now reached 1 billion euros a year and the sectors directly referable to the APA (fiction, entertainment, documentaries, animation) are estimated to have an annual value of over 700 million euros. Market trends confirm the solidity of the generalist television offer, the development of SVOD operators and the so-called Over The Top (OTT) platforms, the success of Italian serials on foreign markets, an evolving regulatory framework that is more attentive to the audiovisual product and in particular to the production of fiction” added Leone.
