Game of Thrones is the highest-rated series ever purchased by Sky, in third place after the original Sky productions Gomorra – The Series and The Young Pope. The season finale, broadcasted in original version with subtitles at the same time as the United States at 3am between Sunday 19 and Monday 20 May on Sky Atlantic, was seen by more than 1.71 million average viewers. The 3 am airing was followed by 569 thousand average spectators with a 30% share (sources: Auditel, Live + Vosdal), making Sky Atlantic the 1st domestic channel on total viewers with 8% live share at that time, the 1st domestic channel with 15-54-year-old viewers (12.1% of live share) and the most viewed channel of the platform. The entire season, in its original subtitled version, closes therefore with an average of 902 thousand spectators on its first day of broadcasting, up +53% compared to the 7th season average (590 thousand).
