Compared to the previous season, the overall offer of original Italian fiction is in clear growth (+ 38 hours) and has recorded the highest value of the last five seasons.

The interseasonal increase in hourly volume is owed to all players but to a different extent: Rai (+ 2 hours), Mediaset (+ 10 hours), Others: Sky/Netflix/Amazon/Disney+ cumulatively (+ 26 hours).

The share of Rai’s offer went from 78% of the last season to 74% of this one. Rai is once again absolute leader in the production of Italian fiction, offering alone more than 3/4 of the season’s hourly volume.

Among the other producers of domestic fiction, the offer of established operators of linear TV (Sky and Mediaset) still have greater weight than the original Italian titles offered by the platforms (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney +).

In absolute values, all hourly increases among operators are modest. In percentage terms, the most significant is offered by Netflix, which nearly doubles its offer.

Compared to the last season, the offer of Italian fiction has increased, both on linear TV (+28 hours) and on platforms (+10 hours).

The offer of Italian original fiction on platforms (Rai Play, Now, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+), is still low. Its seasonal hourly volume is 11%, the same of the past 2020-2021 season.

Rai is the only operator that supplies fiction across the entire distribution spectrum: generalist (Raiuno) and semi-generalist (Raidue, Raitre), specialty channels (Rai Gulp,) and its streaming platform Raiplay

Raiuno repeats last season’s data, confirming its role as the network par excellence of Italian fiction, broadcasting 66% of Rai’s hourly volume and 49% of the total Italian fiction production.

As for the other Rai networks, the interseasonal domestic fiction offer on Raitre and Raidue increases by a handful of hours and that of Rai Gulp decreases.

In the 2022 summer quarter (June-August), the supply of original Italian fiction was 31 hours (-7 hrs. compared to the same 2021 quarter)

The total supply of original Italian fiction over 12 months (September 2021-August 2022) was 601 hours (+ 31) compared to September 2020-August 2021.

In the 2022 summer quarter, Rai once again broadcasted original episodes of Un posto al sole.
