Notes on the method

The 2021-2022 seasonal balance analyses the entire Italian primetime original fiction production televised on Rai, Mediaset, Sky, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+.

The study refers to a twelve-month time frame and is divided in:

• Season (from August 30, 2021, to June 5, 2022)
• Summer (from June 6, 2022, to August 28, 2022)

The data presented in the first 3 sections (Volume of hours; Number of titles, formats and episodes length; Programming) are related to the Season. Those shown in the last section (Producers) are based on the entire time frame (season + summer).

This report contains elaborations related to the 2021-2022 Season and to the 2022 Summer timeframes, but for many variables (hourly volume, number of evenings, number of titles) it also analyzes the diachronic trend of the last five seasons.

Elaborations concerning the hourly volume and the number of titles and episodes were carried out on the original Italian fiction supply of all operators

The data on TV programming (time slots and evenings) refer to the offer of linear TV networks (Rai, Mediaset, Sky) and do not take into account fiction produced by streaming platforms (Raiplay, Now, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+) which is offered beyond programming standards.
