The HBO fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” has landed 32 nominations for the prestigious Emmy Awards, setting the record for the most Primetime Emmy nominations earned by a show in a single year.

Recently, the final season of the series had sparked negative reactions from fans, as well as receiving mixed reviews from critics. Yet, America’s television academy has placed it at the top of 2019’s list of shows.

The nominations include “Outstanding drama series” and best lead actor actor and actress for Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke. In addition, the show counts numerous individual nominations for supporting cast members such as Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams and Gwendoline Christie.

The nominations were announced at the Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences’ Wolf Theatre in North Hollywood by actors Ken Jeong and D’Arcy Carden. The presenters were joined by the TV academy’s chairman and CEO Frank Scherma and by President and COO Maury McIntyre.

The 71° edition of the award show will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 22nd and will be aired on Fox. A fourth win for “Game of Thrones” would set an Emmy record.
