The employment data shown so far concern that within the economic activities of the core<\/em> perimeter<\/em> of the sector, made up of the five 2007 ATECO classes (59.11 – Theatrical, video & TV production; 59.12 \u2013\u00a0 Theatrical, video & TV post-production of; 59.13 – Theatrical, video & TV distribution; 59.14 – Exhibition; 60.20 – TV programming & broadcasting) and follow the \u201cwork unit (3)\u201d criterion of worker\/year<\/strong>, a standard adopted by the national account system. These work units refer to employees and self-employed (who in turn are divided into self-employed and business owners).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To attain a data corresponding to the workers actually involved<\/strong>, or better the count of all<\/em> workers involved, the dependent and independent units need to be counted as single workers <\/em>or individuals<\/em>, also adding categories that are not in the count, as in the case of managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More specifically, this computation process involves a breakdown and integration of the 50,148 employed worker figure, following a different path according to the categories involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(3)\u00a0The unit of measurement of the work volume performed for specific job positions is calculated by considering the unit value of part-time, on-call, and temporary jobs into full-time equivalents. Basically, the final evaluation is a “theoretical” worker\/year assessment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Starting from the employees<\/strong> within the core <\/em>perimeter (42,417,) it is possible to trace the data to single workers<\/em> (considering there are also part-time workers or part-time employment contracts) by analyzing Istat data for ATECO (referring to the total of employees) which correspond to 48,882 units<\/strong>, taking into account the work unit\/job positions ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among independent workers (12,206), the actual figure relating to the count found in the Chamber of Commerce totals 2,700 individuals. Therefore, the data related to self-employment (9,506) increase significantly when calculated in number of individuals. In fact, especially with reference to some professions (actors, for examples,) employment takes place for a limited time during the year and is discontinuous and even sporadic. In this case, a single worker\/year corresponds to more than one \u201cunit\u201d and this data can be supplied by the social security institution INPS, formerly Enpals (Osservatorio Gestione Lavoratori dello spettacolo e sportivi professionisti,)  where self-employed workers are present in different classes, giving access to an average number of paid days\/year for each ATECO code and profession, and offering the possibility to compute the number of individuals actually involved. Based on all these factors, the final count of self-employed workers expressed in single individuals<\/strong> is 52,836.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this, managers<\/strong> need to be added within their ATECO code (not businessmen, which were already included among the independent employees) and counted only once, since they can work on more than one project. The final figure, again to be calculated through the Chamber of Commerce registers, amounts to a total of 14,396 units.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, there are 4,091<\/strong> work units measured in terms of individuals related to employees<\/strong> of companies not belonging to the strict perimeter of the audiovisual core\u2019s economic activities but still under contracts<\/strong> by ex-ENPALS<\/strong> and classified from the point of view of employment as workers within the 5 economic categories of the perimeter (in this case taking into account part-time or part-time employment contracts, as well.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding up all the above data, a total of 122,905 people was engaged in audiovisual activities in 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
